The star piece of his fall collection, an ivory silk slip dress cut in the mold of 1930s screen sirens and finished with a buoyant feather corsage, made its debut on stage at Rockefeller Center’s Studio 8H, when Anya Taylor-Joy wore it for her first-ever Saturday Night Live monologue. “I felt like it was the right time to dress up, to be seen, to say that we’re here,” the designer said. The Russian duo has captured the hearts of Muscovite cool kids with their babushka-style sweaters, creamsicle-swirl tube tops, and saucy mini skirts in Easter Egg tones. Nothing about Vereja, their year-old label, is ordinary; they even make wedding veils spun like fishnets.

While their creations are certainly fashion-forward, Andreev and Komarova are deeply committed to reviving traditional Russian handwork.
